PURPOSE:To correspond a character string available from KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) conversion result to a read character by providing a means converting the 1st character string into the 2nd corresponding one and a means extracting parts corresponding to the 1st character string with respect to characters included in the 2nd character string. CONSTITUTION:When a read character string requiring the KANA/KANJI conversion is inputted through an input device 10, an input control part 14 transfers it to an input character string input part 26, which cumulates said string in a read character string area 28 and simultaneously activates a KANA/ KANJI converting part 30, responding the conversion control key of the device 10. The converting part 30 reads the character string data out of the area 28, executes the KANA/KANJI conversion processing by referring to a KANA/ KANJI conversion dictionary 32, converting said data into a KANA/KANJI mixing character string, and stores it in a conversion result character string area 34. Then a read extracting part 38 reads the read character string data and the conversion result character string data out of the area 28 and the area 34, respectively, and extracts the read character string corresponding to the part made of KANJI.
