PURPOSE:To improve the positioning response speed by executing a rough positioning of a sheet-shaped object, and a precise positioning corresponding to a prescribed sheet size and a drop size against a mold, in at least two stations before punching the mold. CONSTITUTION:In the first station A, a reference signal is applied to an arithmetic unit 15 from a data input device 14 and the first target moving extent indicating signal is sent to a driving device 16, and a rough positioning to a work is executed by driving a horizontal ruler 3 by a driving mechanism 19. In the fourth and the fifth stations D, E, the second and the third target moving extent indicating signals are sent to driving devices 17, 18 in the same way, and also a horizontal needle 6 and a front plate 7 are driven by driving mechanisms 20, 21, and a precise positioning to the work is executed. Each corresponding sensor 22, 23 and 24 feeds back a moving extent detecting signal to the unit 15. In this way, a positioning response speed corresponding to a punching speed can be improved.
