PURPOSE:To improve the oxygen permeability of a lens, to enable continuous wear for a long period and to inhibit the deposition of protein, lipid, inorg. matter, etc. by using a copolymer of comonomers including essentially fumaric ester. CONSTITUTION:A lens is made of a copolymer of comonomers including essen tially one or more kinds of fumaric esters represented by formula I (where each of R and R' is 1-10C alkyl, cyclohexyl, alkyl-cyclohexyl, phenyl or benzyl having optionally a substituent) as component A and one or more kinds of multifunctional monomers selected among multifunctional acrylates, meth acrylates and allyl compounds as component B. Since the copolymer shows high oxygen permeability by the effect of the substituents R, R', has small surface energy and is hydrophobic, the deposition of protein, lipid and inorg. matter on the surface can be prevented.
