PURPOSE:To prevent shocks during the rotational seed of an engine being limited, by issuing an opening degree limiting instruction to a throttle valve control means for electronically controlling the opening degree of a throttle valve when the rotational speed of the engine reaches a previously set upper limit. CONSTITUTION:During a vehicle running, a microcomputer in a throttle valve control circuit 14 receives the degree of depression of an accelerator pedal 10 which is detected by a potentiometer 12, and calculates the desired opening degree of a throttle valve 30. Further, the microcomputer 2 receives the actual opening degree of the throttle valve 30 detected by a potentiometer 32 and calculates the deviation thereof from the above-mentioned desired opening degree. Further, the comparison is made between the rotational speed N of the engine detected by a rotational speed sensor 38 and a previously set upper limit value Nu, and if N<Nu, the drive of a step motor 28 is controlled by means of a driver 26 in the direction in which the above-mentioned deviation comes to be zero. meanwhile, if N<Nu, the drive of the step motor 28 is controlled in the direction in which the opening degree of the throttle valve 30 is restrained.
