PURPOSE:To maintain the continuity of an AFT signal pattern at a join of recording by rewinding a magnetic tape by specific length from the joint, starting reproduction at the rewinding position, and entering a tracking servo- controllable state by using a reproduced tracking servo signal when a signal is recorded continuously. CONSTITUTION:A continuous recording mode is entered with a button on a console panel. Consequently, the magnetic tape is rewound by the specific length from a joint of continuous recording and then a capstan motor 18 is driven to feed the tape at a playback speed. Further, a recording and reproducing circuit 16 and a tracking servo-control part 19 are connected mutually through a mode switching circuit 15 in the continuous recording mode. When the tape MT is rewound and fed for reproduction under said control, a head 17 reads a signal out of the tape MT and inputs it to the recording and reproducing circuit 16. The recording and reproducing circuit 16 amplifies the signal and inputs it to the tracking servo-control part 19. It is checked whether tracking servo-control is possible or not and servo recovery processing is carried out.
