PURPOSE:To enable the recording and reproduction by the titled medium with extremely fewer dropouts of the signal under various environmental conditions by providing a ferromagnetic metallic thin film on one surface of a polymeric film having a fine particles-coated layer and furnishing a vapor-deposited film and a resinous layer contg. a lubricant on the other surface. CONSTITUTION:A ferromagnetic metallic thin film 6 is arranged on a polymeric film having a fine particles-coated layer 5, and a vapor-deposited film and a resinous layer 8 contg. a lubricant is arranged on the other surface of the polymeric film. Consequently, dynamic stress generated when a magnetic head is brought into sliding-contact with a magnetic recording layer at high speed is not locally concentrated due to the ferromagnetic metallic thin film 6 and the vapor-deposited film 7 which are provided respectively on both surfaces of the polymeric film 4 and hence the medium is not damaged. Meanwhile, since traveling stability at low speed can be obtained by the resinous layer 8 contg. a lubricant, the conversion of the stress received in the traveling direction in a short time into impact force in the traveling direction can be controlled and thereby the reliability to durability is improved. The action can be stabilized by the fine particles-coated layer 5 and high-density magnetic recording and reproduction can be performed in use over the wide range of environmental conditions.
