PURPOSE:To improve measuring accuracy by compensating the inside diameter of a workpiece operated by a calculation circuit from the result of measurement by means of the probe contacting with the internal and external peripheries of the workpiece by a temperature compensation means according to the variety of the atmosphere temperature around a measuring section. CONSTITUTION:The output from the measuring head 4 supporting the probes 2 and 3 contacting with the internal and external peripheries of a workpiece 1 is input through respective amplifiers 5 and 6 to an arithmetic and logic unit 7 whereby the inside diameter (r) of the workpiece 1 is computed. In addition, a temperature sensor 8 is arranged near the measuring head 4 to detect the atmosphere temperature around the measuring head and also to detect the temperature deviation from reference temperature by means of a differential amplifier 9. An this temperature deviation is input to a temperature compensation arithmetic and logic unit 11 through a characteristics change-over switch 10. This temperature compensation arithmetic and logic unit 11 performs compensation operation based on temperature deviation in relation to the inside diameter operated by the arithmetic and logic unit 7.
