In this method, a branching optical waveguide structure is produced in accordance with the ion exchange process in a carrier body of glass. This structure is separated together with the carrier body in a branching node. A semi transparent optical layer is applied to one of the polished parting faces of the carrier body parts produced during this process. After that, the two carrier body parts are assembled again so that the original optical waveguide structure is again produced which, however, is now divided by the optical layer. The method is distinguished by its simplicity and is particularly suitable for producing three- or multi-port wavelength-division multiplexers and demultiplexers in accordance with the beam splitter principle. …<IMAGE>… |
