PURPOSE:To facilitate the terminal forming method by cutting an optical fiber core together with its clad body and then exposing and inserting part of the core into the ferrule hole of a plug, and clamping the crimping ring attached to the plug. CONSTITUTION:The plug 2 molded out of plastic is provided with a hole 7 in which the optical fiber cord is fitted and the ferrule hole 7 into which the optical fiber core 5 is inserted through between the tip of the plug 2 and the hole 7, and the crimping ring made of metal for clamping the optical fiber cord 1 is attached to the rear end. The optical fiber cord 1 after the clad body 4 and optical fiber core 5 are cut at the same time has the clad body 4 removed to the length corresponding to the ferrule hole 8 and the core 5 is therefore exposed. The tip of the optical fiber code 1 is fitted in this plug 2 and the crimping ring 3 is clamped to align the tip of the plug 2 to the terminal of the core 5, thus facilitating the terminal formation while omitting the polishing of the end surface. |
