PURPOSE:To enable variable types of adjustments employed by a seat to be effected in a mechanically simple and stepless manner by inserting a shaft into a shaft center of a multi-node body such as a chain which is bent into a form of steps allowing the multi-nodes to cut into the shaft while the multi- mode body is expanded. CONSTITUTION:A seat 11 is provided with such devices as a seat lengthwise shifting clamp device 1, a reclining clamp device 2, and a head rest elevating clamp device 3. The seat 11 is slidably installed on a base 14, and a shaft 15 is also installed on the base 14, at the same time, a clamping device 16 containing a multi-node body is installed on the seat 11. Here, the clamping device 16 has two multi-node bodies 18a and 18b within a case 19 where the shaft 15 passes through the shaft center section, and an unclamping plate 20 is provided between two multi-node bodies 18 and 18b. This configuration allows the unclamping plate 20 to be tilted so as to disconnect each of pins 27 attached to the multi-node bodies 18a and 18b which is engaged with the shaft 15, permitting the clamps to be released.
