PURPOSE:To obtain a high recognition ratio by comparing graphic information detected from a two-dimensional image data with a fundamental graphic information, and when both graphics are recognized as the same graphic as the result of graphic recognition, storing said graphic information as the succeeding fundamental graphic information. CONSTITUTION:Graphic information is inputted from a graphic information detecting circuit 2 to a graphic recognizing circuit 3 through a signal line 102. The fundamental graphic information is inputted from a fundamental graphic information memory 4 to the circuit 3 and compared with said graphic information and the similarity is calculated to recognize the graphic. Recognized as the same graphic as the fundamental graphic information, the inputted graphic information is stored in a recognized result memory 5. The succeeding input graphic information is compared with the graphic information stored in the memory 5 to execute the graphic recognition. When both the graphic coincide with each other as the result of recognition, the contents of the memory 5 are updated by the graphic information inputted in the newest stage.
