PURPOSE:To utilize advantage of inner reformer type and increase mechanical strength of catalyst to lengthen the life by arranging a reforming catalyst on the surface of a passage plate comprising foam metal on anode side. CONSTITUTION:In a fuel cell, a tile 1 impregnated with molten carbonate is placed between a cathode 2 and an anode 3, and they are partitioned with a separator 4. Manifold plates 5 and 6 whose center is hollowed out are placed between the peripheries of the tile 1 and the separator 4. A passage plate 7 between the cathode 2 and the separator 4, and a passage plate 8 placed between the anode 3 and the separator 4 are made of foam metal having continuous pores and conductivity. The passage plate 8 on the anode side is constituted by forming a film of compound containing transition metals and/or alkali earth elements on the surface of foam metal base and applying oxidation-reduction treatment to form a reforming catalyst. |
