PURPOSE:To melt and remove a solidified slag built up on the bottom of a converter, by lowering a top-blow lance for refining to blow gaseous oxygen while blowing innert gas from tuyeres attached to the bottom of the converter in removing the solidified slag of the top-bottom-blown converter. CONSTITUTION:A converter body is returned to its upright position after discharging molten steel and slag from a converter, at the operation of an oxygen- top-blown converter equipped with bottom-blown tuyeres 5 for molten steel agitation. A top-blow lance 3 is lowered to the position, set above a solidified slag 4 built up on the bottom 2 of the converter, and then gaseous oxygen is blown from a nozzle 3a and inert gas is blown from the tuyeres 5 attached to the bottom together. The solidified slag is molten by blowing the oxygen together with preventing the tuyeres 5 from entering the oxygen, and then is discharged by tilting the converter body 1 after melting the slag 4 completely. Thus an agitating function by the tuyeres 5 is recovered by removing the slag 4, and the life of the converter for steel making and refining is prolonged. |
