<p>19 CIRCUIT INTERRUPTER WITH IMPROVED ELECTROMECHANICAL UNDERVOLTAGE RELEASE MECHANISM The invention relates to a circuit interrupter which is especially suitable for use under conditions of mechanical shock and vibration. The circuit interrupter includes a release mechanism (50; Figures 9-10) for tripping the interrupter upon the occurrence of an abnormal power supply condition, such as undervoltage. The release mechanism comprises a first movable structure (58) comprising an armature biased (spring 24) toward an actuated position and normally held magnetically (coil 54) in a home position from which to be released when the abnormal power supply condition occurs, and a second movable structure (62, 68-74) operable by the first movable structure to trip open the circuit interrupter. The two movable structures are interconnected in such manner (lever 60) as to be substantially balanced and to simultaneously move in opposite directions with respect to each other.</p> |
