PURPOSE:To speed up processing to make a fine line by previously detecting requiring much time for fine line making convergence by counting up a histogram, and after partially executing the fine line making filter processing of only the part, thinning the whole picture image. CONSTITUTION:For an image to make a fine line histograms of in both the X and Y directions are counted up by a circuit 6 and square areas having values more than previously set up thresholds in both the X and Y directions are decided as area for individually executing the fine line making filter processing. Then, the number of detected square areas and their size are compared with thresholds for determining whether individual processing to make the fine line is to be executed or not. As the result of comparison, the thinning filter processing is executed for the area decided by a circuit 5 as to the shortening of its processing time in the individual processing to make the fine line. After converging all square areas concerned, the fine line making filter processing is applied to the whole picture image, and at the convergency of the whole picture,the completion of the processing to make the fine line is decided. |
