PURPOSE:To store a large amount of program data in a memory device by applying Huffman encoding which converts data into a minimum data length according to the appearance probability distribution of program data and compressing traced data. CONSTITUTION:When a data tracing device gives data trace activation and data trace type setting to a CPU 1, program execution results are sequentially outputted from the address bus and the data bus of the CPU 1, and received by the buffer register 4 of the data tracing device 3. The data of the reception output of the buffer register 4 is Huffman-encoded by a code converter 5, compressed and stored in the memory device 6. Thus a data compressing means Huffman-encoding the traced data and the memory device 6 storing the output of the data compressing means are provided, whereby the storage of data in large quantities is independent of the maximum storage capacity of the memory device. |
