PURPOSE:To obtain an optical card which can record and reproduce information to and from a recording layer through a substrate, by constituting the substrate which has been provided by laminating the recording layer on the surface, so that it has a light transmissivity. CONSTITUTION:An optical card 5 is formed by laminating a protective layer 21, a recording layer 22 and a substrate 23. As for the substrate 23, a material having a light transmissivity, such as glass, etc. is used, and the substrate not only can record information to the recording layer 22 by making it transmit through the protective layer 21 having a light permeability, but also can record information to a recording layer 23 by making it transmit through the substrate 23 having a light transmissivity. According to a constitution in which an optical head 19 has been placed against both faces of the optical card, information can be recorded and reproduced simultaneously, and recording and reproduction can be executed in a short time. |
