PURPOSE:To dispense with complicated machining and to reduce the cost of the title head by depositing a vitreous or resinous member on the corner part of a coil cavity to reduce the interval between slits and obtaining desired gap length. CONSTITUTION:The external form of an annular magnetic head core 1 is molded in one step, for example, by powder molding and baked at a prescribed temp. The a slit 5 having about 30-100mum size is formed and a film of glass or SiO2 6 is coated in prescribed thickness on a gap opposing surface by sputtering, etc. The clearance of the slit 5 is reduced to the GL dimension by exerting pressing force and the opposing surfaces on which SiO2 is sputtered are firmly stuck to each other. A prescribed amt. of glass 8 is deposited at a prscribed temp. on two sites at the corners, namely notched parts 4, in a coil cavity 3 to secure the maintenance of GL. A prescribed bending moment action due to the contraction of glass at ordinary temp. is exerted on the GL opposing surfaces and the surfaces are allowed to approach to each other.
