<PICT:0353208/IV/1> In a method of making collapsable tubes or other thinwalled containers by forming a skin of acetyl cellulose or the like on a shaping-body and removing the skin by turning it inside out, a ring is loosely mounted on the shaping-body to facilitate removal of the skin. As shown, the shaping-body 3 is provided with an enlargement 4 against which the ring 5 is held. The body is coated by dipping, spraying, casting, or the like so that the upper edge of the skin formed by drying of the solution extends over the lower edge of the ring. On moving the ring downwards, the skin is turned inside out and removed from the body. The outer surface of the skin is preferably coated with a medium such as soap solution to prevent the walls from sticking during removal. The body 3 may be provided with raised or recessed portions to form inscriptions or designs on the finished container. The coating-solution may consist of cellulose acetate in a mixture of ethyl acetate, methanol, and toluol, or of methyl acetate and methanol, and diglycol ether of phthalic acid and a softening-agent such as methyl paratoluene sulphamide may be added. |
