A process for handling heavy pipes 20, preferably made of concrete, between manufacturing site and place of use. The intended number of pipes is placed in a first cassette 22 - a so-called loading pallet - which is intended for dimension-specific pipe bundling. The pipes are then positionally fixed relative to each other in the cassette by means of binding members 26. A separately handlable pipe bundle 28 is herein produced. The pipe bundle is taken out of the cassette 22 and transported directly or via intermediate storage bays to a second cassette 36 which is situated closely adjacent to the place of use. The pipe bundle 28 is placed in the second cassette 36 - a so-called unloading pallet. The binding members 26 are undone without any significant displacement of the pipes in the pipe bundle. After this the pipes 20 are taken out of the second cassette 36 and transferred to the place of use. <IMAGE> |
