PURPOSE:To enable favorable transfer printing, by disposing a transfer paper between a thermal head and a platen roller and disposing a recording paper between the platen roller and a heated roller opposed to other position of the platen roller. CONSTITUTION:A predetermined printing current is supplied to a thermal head 3 to heat the latter to a temperature slightly higher than the melting temperature to an ink 1a on a transfer paper 1, thereby effecting direct transfer printing 1b onto a platen roller 4 having a smooth surface. At a position where the roller 4 is rotated by a predetermined angle, the recording paper 14 is fed between the heated roller 13 heated to a temperature higher than the melting point of the ink 1b by, for example, about 40 deg.C, and the platen roller 4, whereby the ink 1b adhered to the surface of the roller 4 is transfer-printed 1c on the recording paper 14 under pressing and heating. Accordingly, favorable transfer printing can be performed even on a recording paper having a rough surface. |
