PURPOSE:To effect flow control without causing pressure loss in a centrifugal pump by installing a variable diffuser vane mechanism in the pump. CONSTITUTION:In a centrifugal pump B, a sensor 3, a positioner 5, actuator 4 and a variable diffuser vane mechanism 6 for changing the angle of a diffuser vane are installed. By adding the positioner 5 to the driving cylinder, it is possible to attain within the centrifugal pump B the same function as that of a conventional flow regulating valve to regulate flow rate in accordance with control signal 3a. Furthermore, pressure loss can be made nil. Thus, it is possible to save the shaft driving force in the pump.
