PURPOSE:To simplify the structure of a card platen and to make it light in weight by making a holding member have such a structure as both ends of a recording medium of a direction being orthogonal to a reciprocating motion of a card-shaped recording medium receive a force by which they are warped to an optical beam irradiating side of the reverse side. CONSTITUTION:A part 59 of a card platen serves as a card stopper, and projecting members 60, 60' being parallel to a card feeding direction and for supporting from below only both end parts of a card, and holding members 61, 61' for determining a position to an optical beam incident direction of the card are provided. A gap between the holding member 61 and a supporting surface 63 is a little wider than the thickness of a card 1, and the card 1 is pushed up from below by the projecting member 60, and held down by the holding member 61 from above. Since a card holding member having a spring becomes unnecessary, the structure of the platen is simplified, and it can be made light in weight, and its cost can be saved.
