PURPOSE:To form an optical information recording medium having high C/N and contrast, excellent shelf life and small reproduction deterioration by forming the recording layer by coating of a soln. consisting essentially of the specific compd. without contg. a binder. CONSTITUTION:This recording medium has the recording layer formed by coating the soln. consisting essentially of the compd. expressed by formula I or/and the compd. expressed by formula II and contg. no binder. The example of the representative compd. expressed by formula I or II is shown by formula III. The recording medium having the smaller reproduction deterioration than the conventional recording material and the excellent shelf life is thus obtd. Since the binder is not used, the higher C/N and contrast than with the conventional dye + binder type is obtainable. The high C/N is obtd. and defects can be decreased by a soln. coating method. The formation method is simpler than the formation of the recording layer by the conventional vapor deposition method and the considerable reduction in the production cost is made possible.
