PURPOSE:To determine correctly a disc from which initial program loading is performed, by indicating this disc in a preliminarily determined address on a hard disc. CONSTITUTION:It is described on an IPL start program 8 that the disc from which IPL is performed is determined on the basis of IPL information 9. When IPL is performed by turning power supply on, a processor 1 reads in IPL information 9 on the basis of the IPL start program 8. For example, a disc 6-3 is determined by IPL information 9 as the disc from which IPL is performed, and IPL is performed from the disc 6-3 onto a main storage device 2. That is, the IPL start program 8 reads in file control information of the designated disc 6-3 to start IPL.
