PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution a device, and to make it small in size and energy saving, by using a motor of a specified output, and constituting the device so that a ram device reaches a bottom dead center from a top dead center and performs a press work, and when it has reached the vicinity of the top dead center, the motor is stopped by a position detector. CONSTITUTION:As for a motor 2, that of a low inertia whose rotor inertia is <=0.05kgcm<2>/W is used. When electric power is supplied to this motor 2, an eccentric rotary mechanism 3 is rotated, and a crank arm 4 drives toggle links 5a, 5b. A ram device 6 moves downward from a top dead center stop position, and performs a press work. When the ram device 6 reaches a position which has been set in advance, a position detector 8 detects it, a signal is sent to a control device 7, electric power to the motor 2 is cut off, and a press device completes one process and stops.
