PURPOSE:To obtain the title head having excellent flatness during working by providing a magnetic head pattern on a ceramic substrate through an insulating layer and further sticking a protective sheet for working made of the same material as that of the substrate on the pattern through an insulating layer. CONSTITUTION:An alumina ceramic thin sheet having the same high hardness as that of a substrate material is used as a protective thin sheet for working 15' (or 15'') and stuck on the substrate 1. An org. or inorg. adhesive 9 is used and the tip R of a head is ground and polished into specified size. When the tip R of the head is worked, the lower thin film pattern is observed and the working conditions are grasped to carry out the working. In this case, since the material of the protective sheet 15' (15'') for working made of alumina ceramic is opaque, a notch 16 is formed at a part of the protective sheet 15'' for working to facilitate the observation of the lower thin film pattern.
