PREVENTIVE METHOD OF CLOGGING OF BOTTOM BLOWING PLUG

PURPOSE:To prevent the clogging of a bottom blowing plug by slag in the stage of discharging the slag remaining in a vessel by supplying an inert gas to the bottom blowing plug thereby preventing the instrusion of the slag into the air permeation hole of the plug. CONSTITUTION:A molten steel contained in a ladle 1 is discharged from the ladle 1 and thereafter a piping 9 for purging is connected to a piping 5 provided to the ladle 1. The inert gas such as N2 or Ar is then supplied from a gas tank 8 via the pipings 9, 5 to the bottom blowing plug 3 and while the inert gas is ejected from the plug 3, the ladle 1 is tilted to discharge the slag 7 from the ladle 1 into a slag receiving pan 10. The remaining of the slag 7 in the air permeation hole of the plug 3 is thereby prevented.
