PURPOSE:To raise the operability of fire-extinguishing and ignition as well as permit operating parts to be easily set on the upside of the burner body by a method in which a wick raising part is driven by a motor, and the wick is pulled up from a tank and exposed by the wick raising part for ignition of the wick. CONSTITUTION:A wick raising part 15 to be driven by a motor 7 and to expose a wick 18 pulled into a tank 19 to the outside of the tank 19 is provided. Clutch boards 8a and 8b are provided to power transmitters 7a, 9a, 7, and 14 to connect the wick raising part with the motor, and an electromagnetic means to contact or separate the clutch boards 8a and 8b is connected to the motor 7 in parallel. An electrifying time setter 10 to determine the electrifying time for both the electromagnetic means and the motor is also provided. The motor and the electromagnetic means are designed to become inoperative in case where such external disturbance as earthquake, service interruption, etc., occur. The wick raising part is reset to its initial condition by being released from the operation of the motor 7 and the power transmitters 7a, 9a, 7, and 14, whereby extinguishing fire instantaneously. The safety of the burner can be kept even after the external disturbance is removed unless igniting operations are made by user.
