PURPOSE:To carry out the crosslinking of a polyolefin pipe suppressing the temperature rise of the pipe and preventing the flattening of the pipe in the case of winding the pipe immediately after irradiation, by irradiating a polyolefin pipe with electron ray while passing pressurized cooling water in the pipe. CONSTITUTION:A polyolefin pipe is irradiated with electron ray while passing pressurized cooling water in the pipe. The circulation pump 7 of the cooling water circulation circuit is operated to press cooling water into the polyethylene pipe 2 from the supply drum 1 wound with the pipe 2. The untreated pipe 2 is delivered at a definite speed, passed through the irradiation apparatus 3, and wound around the winding drum 4.
