PURPOSE:To enable the method to also improve productivity, by applying a conductive coating to a work surface so as to prevent deterioration of a quality on the work surface due to its pitting, in the case of the electric discharge machining method by a wire cut electric discharge machine. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a work is coated with a conductive coating 10 by applying conductive paint of zinc rich paint or the like, or metal foil 11 of copper and brass or the like is adhesively attached to the work surface by using a conductive adhesive agent 12 of E solder or the like, and if the work is machined as normally with the work surface serving as the anode while a wire serving as the cathode, the method, allowing an electrolytic current to flow between the conductive coating 10 or the foil 11 and an electrode 2, prevents the work from being electrolytically melted while its pitting from being generated. The method, after it completes machining, removes the coating by dissolution using a solvent and chemicals and by mechanical exfoliation or the like. In this way, the electric discharge machining method, preventing deterioration of a quality due to the pitting while eliminating the necessity also for secondary machining removing the pitting, improves also the productivity.
