PURPOSE:To produce the titled foam of a high expansion ratio and excellent heat resistance, by mixing a chlorine-containing resin with a specified organic acid metal salt, a metal bromide or a metal nitrate and a chemical blowing agent and expanding the resin. CONSTITUTION:A chlorine-containing resin (e.g., PVC or vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymer) is mixed with an organic acid salt of Zn, Na, K, Mg, Ca or Ba (e.g., Ba/Zn laurate stearate), a metal bromide (e.g., KBr) or a metal mixture [e.g., Zn(NO3)2] and a chemical blowing agent (e.g., azodicarbonamide) and expanded. The blowing agent can be decomposed uniformly within a short time, its decomposition temperature can be decreased, and a foam which has a fine uniform cell structure, does not suffer from discoloration due to heat hysteresis and lowered expansion ratio and can be filled with a large amount of a filler or mixed with a large amount of a blowing agent can be obtained. |
