PURPOSE:To aim at simplifying the inspection and repair of a machine room even when a floating dock touches the sea bottom, by installing a cylindrical multipurpose access trunk provided at its one end with a landing, in one section of a flat beam bottom type tank in the vicinity of opening section of the machine room through the intermediary of a pedestal. CONSTITUTION:A cylindrical access trunk 3 has a size equal to that of an opening section 2a in the top of a machine room 2, having a margines from the water surface 15 which it is made to touch the sea bottom. Further, it has an arrangement such that no water enters into through a top opening. A flange 4 is fixed to the lower end of the access trunk while a landing 11 composed of hand rails 11a, support columns 11b and a floor plate 11c, is attached to support members 6, 6 by means welding or with the use of bolts. A power feeder is led from the access trunk 3, and is used also as an exhaust cylinder. Further, even when the floating dock is made to touch the sea bottom, the top opening section positioned in the floor plate 11c section of the landing of the trunk 3 is projected from the water surface. Accordingly it is possible promptly access the machine room 2 without any special work for submersion when any trouble occurs in the machine room.
