PURPOSE:To eliminate a flicker phenomenon even when frequency characteristics are low by inputting a plus and a minus signal to a data driver part and driving liquid crystal while inverting the electric signals in polarity at every vertical scanning period. CONSTITUTION:The signals which drive the liquid crystal are inputted to respective transmission gates 8 through a positive-polarity image signal line V12 and a negative-polarity image signal line V13 and written to data lines 6 while transmission gates 8 are closed with the output signal of an X shift register 4, so that they are inputted to a liquid crystal display part 3. Consequently, picture element electrodes 18 are inverted in polarity on every other data line. The polarities of the image signal lines are inverted by a polarity inverting circuit 9 at every vertical scanning period with a trigger signal 10 and the picture element electrodes are inverted in polarity as well. Thus a liquid crystal display device of high display quality which is free of a flicker phenomenon even when frequency characteristics are low is obtained.
