PURPOSE:To prevent printing abnormality even if there is abnormality in the data taken out from a cartridge, by performing printing after it was confirmed whether the discrimination code provided corresponding to the kind of a cartridge is normal. CONSTITUTION:When a printing order and a series of character code rows to be printed are inputted, a control apparatus 1 once stores a printing character code in a memory 3 to start data editing for printing. When the editing of printing dot pattern data corresponding to one character is finished, the discrimination code stored in the head address in a cartridge 2 is read. When the discrimination code is right, it is checked whether the editing of the printing data of one line has been completed and, when said editing is not completed, the processing of the next character is performed. When the editing of the printing data of one line was completed, the state of a 'draw-out' flag is confirmed. When the 'draw-out' flag is not turned ON, the control apparatus 1 sends a printing order to a printing head driver circuit and drives the printing head to perform desired printing. |
