The ornithopter according to the invention is an aerodyne driven by muscle power, characterised by the particular "morphology" of moving wings whose flapping generates the warping or a semi-helical torsion giving rise to lift, propulsion and, in the same way, gliding. The assembly constituting the landing gear is an essential element of the aircraft carrying out several vital functions: landing shock absorber, protection, and function of steering by pushing with the feet at a fixed point in the region of the skids giving rise either to displacement of the centre of gravity or the various inclinations suitable for manoeuvring the aircraft. The ornithopter is particularly intended for sport and leisure. <IMAGE>
