PURPOSE:To close an original pressure plate horizontally even over a three- dimensional original with a simple structure by providing two elastic means between the original press-contacting and support member and energizing and rotating the pressure plate toward a support member side at any time. CONSTITUTION:The support member 4 is pivoted on the 1st hinge 3 of a main body A and the original press-contacting plate B is pivoted through a lift member 5. Further, a link member 8 is supported on the pin 9 of the lift member 5, a compression coil spring 10 is provided elastically between the link member and a fixed pin 11, and a torsion coil spring 13 is provided around a hinge pin 7. The plate B is therefore energized and rotated by the springs 10 and 13 toward the support member 4 at any time. When the cover is closed in this constitution, the plate B abuts on a corner of an original such as a thick book once, so the plate B rotates by pulling this side slightly strongly to close the top surface of the thick original horizontally.
