PURPOSE:To judge the allowable minimum machining diameter and prevent interference with a workpiece by forming machining data from the data of the optimum tool which is selected in accordance with specified machining data such as the machining program. CONSTITUTION:When the turning operation of the inside diameter of a workpiece 10 is to be carried out by a throw-away tip 12 held by a holder 11, a machining program for commanding a defied machining procedure to a machine 7, is stored in program memory 5. When the tool number of a tool file, together with machining data based on a drawing, is inputted from a data inputting device 3, machining data are formed from the data on the determined optimum tool and the machining program. As a result, machining data which does not interfere with material can be accurately formed.
