The arrangement consists of two pref. plate-shaped cable end pieces (8) which partially locate and centre a casing around the union. The pieces are joined to one another by at least two long components (9,10,11). The cable end pieces have central holes for fixation of contact units (12) which, apart from maintaining galvanic connection with the cable reinforcement (13), transmit traction forces from the cable reinforcement to the end pieces. The pressure-tight casing is tubular (1) with end seals (3-5). By virtue of their shape, the cable end pieces only take up a part of the tubular casing cross-section, leaving space for the optic fibres (17) to extend past the end pieces in the spaces between the latter and the end seals to form coils.
