The application relates to an automatic safety-belt winder with a belt tautener, in which, in the event of an accident, a pyrotechnic propellant charge is ignited and acts, by means of the released gas, on a piston/cylinder unit which sets a rope wheel in rotation and at the same time displaces a driving pin which presses on a coupling lever mounted pivotably on the rope wheel and which thereby makes a non-positive connection with the belt shaft, with the result that the belt shaft is turned back and the belt is tautened.
