PURPOSE:To prevent an off-track state and to always keep an on-track state by correcting a timing to update a video track with detecting a tracking error voltage in a slow motion regeneration. CONSTITUTION:A video RF signal 18 is inputted to an ATF detecting circuit 19 and a beat component generated between an adjacent track is detected by a pilot signal in the signal 18 and an ATF error signal generated corresponding to the position of a rotating head is obtained. The voltage of the error signal is raised or lowered according to dislocation and it is detected as an ATF error signal 20. The signal 20 is given to comparators 23 and 24 having thresholds 21 and 22 and comparison outputs 25 and 26 become 'H' when they are off the thresholds. By the 'H' output, a microcomputer 11 subtracts or adds a counter reset value and adjusts the timing for a track updating by the rotating head and the on-track state is always obtained.
