PURPOSE:To increase the quantity of the input/output data which can be transmitted within a fixed period of time by transmitting the input/output allocation data having no deed for transmission after it is once transmitted and the data requiring no real time properties only when they are needed. CONSTITUTION:For transmission of data between a programmable controller 1 and a remote IO 2, a remote IO control part 17 of the controller 1 refers to a remote IO state table stored in a RAM 173 when the transmission/reception of input/output data is through with all remote IO. If a remote IO requesting the input/output allocation data is detected, this data is transmitted by an I instruction. Receiving this I instruction, the IO transmits the RR response and informs the end of reception through the part 17. The part 17 receives the RR response and resets a request flag for the remote IO state table to inhibit the next transmission. While the input/output allocation data is transmitted continuously until a transmission/reception command for input/output data is delivered from an arithmetic control part 12 of the controller 1.
