PURPOSE:To provide a plate making roll for gravure printing reduced in its wt., excellent in close adhesiveness and capable of increasing a printing effective area, by forming a cylinder from an Al-Mg-Si type aluminum alloy and provid ing bent parts to both end parts of the copper plating layer forming wall of the cylinder toward the center line of said cylinder. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 1 comprises an Al-Mg-Si type aluminum alloy extrusion molded material having a copper plating layer forming outer wall 1a and radial connection walls and has a wt. about 1/3 the wt. of iron and is extremely hard to corrode as compared with iron. Further, the cylinder 1 has the good close adhesiveness with the plating layer when copper plating is applied to the surface of said cylinder 1. The copper plating layer forming wall 1a is formed so as to be made longer by the length almost corresponding to the lengths of bent parts 2 than the predetermined length has the cylinder 1 and an effective printing surface reaches both end edges of plate making roll. |
