<p>Vinyl ester resins are prepared by reacting a polymerizable unsaturated carboxylic acid-containing compound with an epoxy resin prepared by dehydrohalogenating the reaction product of an epihalohydrin with the reaction product of an aromatic hydroxyl-containing compound and an unsaturated hydrocarbon. The resulting vinyl ester resin, with or without a polymerizable monomer, may be cured by the application of heat and/or pressure in the presence of a free radical yielding catalyst to form such products as coatings, pottings and castings.</p> |
