PURPOSE:To enable an inexpensive sample concentration without errors of the concentration rate, by injecting a fixed mount of a sample direct into a concentration column mounted on a sample injection valve. CONSTITUTION:In the separation and analysis of anion by a liquid chromatography, a sample is injected into a concentration column filled with an anion exchange resin mounted to a sample injection valve beforehand. The capacity of a sample loop normally used in an ion chromatography is 50-100mul. On the other hand, it is generally known that when a column is filled with a spherical resin, the void is about 33% of the capacity of the column and hence, when the sample is injected into the sample column, the solvent dissolving the sample fills the void. So, the capacity of the concentration column shall be 330mul and preferably, a container of 300mul is used. The particle size of the anion exchange resin to fill is not practicable when under 10mum because of a substantial resistance in the filling of the concentration column with the sample while causes a noticeable leakage of a measuring ion when exceeding 30mum.
