PURPOSE:To reduce the coefficient of kinetic friction and to improve the traveling stability of the titled medium by providing a magnetic layer on one surface of a carrier and furnishing a layer contg. carbon black treated with a fatty acid on the other surface. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer is provided on one surface of a carrier and a layer contg. carbon black is furnished on the other surface as the back-coat layer. A lubricant composed of carbon black treated with a fatty acid is incorporated into the back-coat layer. A fatty acid expressed by RCOOH, where R is a 13-17 C straightchain saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbonic group, is most favorably used as the fatty acid to react with carbon black. Carbon black having about 0.01-0.05mum particle diameter is preferably used and about 25-400 pts.wt. carbon black is used with 100pts.wt. binder. Consequently, a recording medium having a low coefficient of kinetic friction and excellent traveling property and surface smoothness and wherein ruggedness is hardly formed on the surface of the magnetic layer is obtained. |
