PURPOSE:To promote an efficient use for a memory space of a display memory and reduce its cost by reading color/function block information out of addresses of character/graphic information through an address conversion circuit after address-converting automatically and simultaneously writing in the display memory. CONSTITUTION:Respective picture information of the character/graphic information as well as the color/function block information are stored in the display memory 20 by a display memory address circuit 23 after giving systematic addresses and when they are read; in other words when they are displayed, the color/function block information is read out of the address of the character/ graphic information through the address conversion circuit 22 after address- converting automatically. And furthermore, respective circuits are controlled by a timing signal from a timing generating circuit 24 and even when data of the display memory 20 are displayed by time-sharing control circuits 30 and 25, the writing/reading in the display memory 20 can be carried out optionally, provided that periods of these writing/reading are more than certain periods.
