PURPOSE:To accurately measure the interface of sludge, by correcting the set value of sludge interface concn. with the variation in the sludge capacity index of the liquid mixture of activated sludge flowed in a solid-liquid separation tank. CONSTITUTION:The liquid mixture of sludge in the vicinity of the outlet of an aeration tank 1 is sampled and SV30 of the sample is calculated by a SV1 meter 2 while the MLSS concn. thereof is calculated by a MLSS densitiometer 21 and SV1 is calculated on the basis of these values by the SV1 meter 2. SV1 is inputted to an operation part 3 and the MLSS concn. is corrected on the basis of SV1 in the operation part 3 and the sludge interface concn. set value of a final sedimentation basin 4 is operated. A concn. sensor 6 is raised and lowered by an interface follow control part 5 so as to allow the detected concn. to follow the set value calculated in the operation part 3. The sludge concn. sensor 6 at this time is raised and lowered and the height position of the sludge concn. sensor 6 is outputted from a SL meter 7 as the height position of a sludge interface.
