PURPOSE:To allow both PAL/NTSC systems to fulfill stable reproductive operation and hue variable function by providing a + or - phase converter of the same absolute value at the prestage of a PAL system color reproduction means, and also permitting the hue to be variable even in case of a PAL system as well as in case of an NTSC system by means of a changing-over operation on the basis of a line identifying means. CONSTITUTION:If a carrier video signal is inputted in an output terminal, a carrier chrominance signal is extracted by a Y/C separation circuit 6 and is inputted in the phase converter 17 and 18 as well as in a burst gate circuit 7 generating phase differences + or -(1) which are variable and reversible in phase with each other. First of all, in case of a PAL system, a switch 14 is set at a terminal (a) side and switches 12 and 19 are changed over by a line discriminative decision circuit 11 every a horizontal scan and operate by interlocking each other. Secondly, in case of the NTSC system, the switch 12 is connected to set at the terminal (b) side and the switch 19 at the terminal (a) side and also the switch 14 at the terminal (b) side. Thus the changing-over operation makes hue variable and adjustable to user's favorite hue by varying quantities of phases of the phase converter which are reversible with each other during their operations.
