The invention relates to a device for generating focused light with the use of at least one conventional light source. In order to produce a pinpointed transformation of the light of a punctiform light source, use is made of the geometrical properties of ellipsoids. The invention provides that the light of the light source (1) is projected at one of the focal points (F1, F2) of an ellipsoid (2). The ellipsoid (2) is made from a light-transmitting material such as, for example, glass. The ellipsoid has light entry openings corresponding to the number of the light sources (1) employed, and light exit openings (4). The midpoints of the light exit openings (4) are located at the point of intersection of the respective axis or plane at which the light is focused, and the surface of the ellipsoid (2). With the exception of the light entry and light exit openings, the ellipsoid is silvered.
